A note from the bakery

A note from the bakery

Dad opened Cottage Pie in our home village of Dearham in 1984, after years on the butcher's block in Maryport and Moota. We still raise the pies on his recipe — steak, meat and potato, steak and cheese, bacon and egg — and we still bake the bread, the teacakes and the traybakes that Dearham's known us for since the eighties. Nigel and I run things now, with a little help from Poppy on the counter.

Forty years on Maryport Road

A small family bakery, the proper way.

Dad — Tom Hodgson — opened Cottage Pie in 1984, after the butchery at Moota and a deli counter in Maryport. He ran the shop until 2020, and his recipes for the pies and teacakes haven't changed since. Nigel and Zoe run it now, the same way.
